Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how MockSpot (“we”, “us”, or “the app”) handles information
when you use the MockSpot Android application (package
com.anaszakzok.mockspot) and this website.
1. Summary
MockSpot is a developer and QA tool for simulating GPS locations on Android devices. The product works without a MockSpot user account. We do not sell personal data. Routes and preferences stay on your device; limited technical data may be processed by Google Firebase services we use to run and improve the app (described below).
2. Information we process
Depending on how you use MockSpot, the following may apply:
- On-device data. Routes, waypoints, mock points, and settings you create are stored locally on your device (for example via Android DataStore). MockSpot does not upload your route files to a MockSpot-operated cloud database. Data leaves the device only if you export or share it yourself, or as otherwise described for Firebase below.
- Location permission. The app may request location permission to center the map on your real position and to support location-related testing features. Simulated / mock locations are generated by you for development and QA. MockSpot does not sell your location data.
- Notifications permission. On newer Android versions the app may request notification permission so the foreground mock-location service can show its status notification while running.
-
Firebase services (Google). MockSpot uses Google Firebase. These SDKs
may collect and process technical / diagnostic information on Google’s infrastructure,
such as:
- Firebase Analytics — app usage and engagement metrics (for example app opens and basic analytics events) to understand product stability and usage.
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports, stack traces, and device / app version metadata so we can fix bugs.
- Firebase Performance Monitoring — performance traces such as app start and network timing to improve responsiveness.
- Firebase Remote Config — fetches configuration from Google’s servers (for example maintenance notices or update prompts). This involves standard network requests and may include device / install identifiers used by Firebase.
- Website. This static website does not use a MockSpot user database or accounts. Your hosting provider or CDN may collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) as part of delivering the site.
- Google Play. If you install from Google Play, Google may collect analytics, install, and crash-related data under Google’s policies. We may receive aggregated or anonymized reports from Google Play Console in addition to Firebase.
3. How we use information
- To provide mock location and map features on your device
- To remember your routes and preferences locally
- To operate Remote Config messages (maintenance / update notices)
- To diagnose crashes and improve performance and reliability
- To understand aggregate app usage via Analytics
- To respond if you contact us through the channels listed on this site
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not operate a MockSpot cloud database for your routes. Data is shared with service providers only as needed to run the app and site, including Google (Firebase, Play, Android platform services) and your web host, under their own policies. We do not sell analytics data to data brokers.
5. Data retention
Local app data remains on your device until you clear app storage, uninstall the app, or delete saved items in-app. Firebase diagnostics and analytics are retained according to Google Firebase retention settings and practices. Website server logs, if any, are retained according to the host’s default policies.
6. Children’s privacy
MockSpot is intended for developers and testers. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction).
7. Your choices
- Deny or revoke location and notification permissions in Android settings
- Clear app data or uninstall to remove local MockSpot data
- Review Google account / device settings and Google’s Privacy Policy for controls that may apply to Play and Firebase data
- Contact us to ask questions about this policy
8. International use
If you use the app or website from outside the country where our team or hosts operate, information may be processed in other regions (including by Google) as needed to deliver Firebase, Play, and hosting services.
9. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app or site after updates means you accept the revised policy.
